Firewood Program

One of the many resources provided by Appalachian Outreach is the availability of firewood in winter months. All year long, firewood is donated by local individuals as well as tree trimming companies within the vicinity. These donations are accepted, but Appalachian Outreach is unable to pick up firewood from individual homes and/or workplaces. Many volunteers split and stack the firewood year round in order to furnish enough bundles to hand out in winter months. This operation offers a source of heat for several families in the East Tennessee area. During the winter months, Appalachian Outreach hands out over 150 loads of firewood each year.
As it is available, Firewood is given out in the months of November through February on the Third Wednesday of the month from 9:00 am. to 2:00 pm at 190 W. Old A.J. Hwy. Jefferson City, TN 37760. For families that wish to receive Firewood; please bring a valid driver’s license, a recent piece of mail with your name on it, a recent pay stub, or Food Stamp card to complete an application. You will need to present your driver’s license each to you come to receive Firewood. A Donation for the wood each time it is received would be appreciated.
